my brain won’t leave the fall alone. I want to sort it out but I suspect that anything I come up with won’t be accurate.

But then why visit the cemetery with John? if he was leaving and not caring anymore why would he keep tabs on john? I don’t disagree though, he doesn’t know if he will be able to come back. He is uncertain, since he has to go up against the web without any help, so he thinks that the best thing will be for John to get something that might be considered closure. just ‘saving him time, isn’t that kinder?’
But I also happen to hold a BAMF!John theory. The barefoot scene in 221b is mourning, but it is also contemplative. John is a man of action and he believes in Sherlock. Sherlock might be dead but there is a web, and it will still need to be destroyed. I think he will take up the challenge, and in doing so I think he will find Sherlock. And I pity Sherlock when John finds him.
Friendly reminder that John has most likely broken his habit of making two cups of tea by now.

actually can someone math the amount of time that it would be if the 3 years that is canon for Sherlock’s return into the amount of time between RF and the start of season 3? (did that even make sense? sorry, time paradoxes mess with my brain) So for John it would be almost a year since RF?

Okay, I know its popular to say that Mycroft knows about Sherlock being alive. I don’t think he does.
He is sitting in a room where no one is allowed to talk to him and he is going to eat a pretty fancy lunch. (I originally thought it was cake but its sandwiches) If he knew that Sherlock was alive he wouldn’t be there at all. And he probably wouldn’t be eating that much.
why doesn’t he just drop jim?
